There’s One in Every Crowd (2020), Oil on Canvas,

39” x 56”

The Ravishes of War (2024), Oil on Canvas, 42” x 65”

The Followers (2024), Oil on Canvas, 30” x 40”

Included in the Upcoming Exhibition:

A Bird Teaches A Man How To Sing

A Bird Teaches A Man How To Sing  (2023), Oil on Canvas 56” x 75”

Watch this reel to find out more about the visual notation that takes place in Compo’s paintings.

The bird decides to give a person a singing lesson, instructing him on the methods used by the bird’s ancestors using a notation form that dates back to when birds had no wings.

Compo

Self Portrait of me as a Baby

Self Portrait of me as a Baby (2025), Oil on Canvas, 129” x 47”

Self Portrait of me as a Baby, captures Compo in his various iterations of life: being held in his mothers arms, his fathers double bass, the kabbalah, his perrakis... The portrait is an amalgamation of moments that explore genealogy, New York City and his internal and external study.

The Handout

The Handout (2025), Oil on Canvas. 40” x 30”

The Handout is a different sort of portrait- a portrait of the city. The studio at W 37th and 8th ave inspires Compo’s artistic practice. The landscape of oddities, diverse passerby and vices on display make the sidewalk an entrancing subject.

Self Portrait of me as a Baby and The Handout are two of Compo’s newer works that have yet to be displayed to the public.

Thank you to everyone at BWAC, it has been great to join forces with the non-profit and display work in an architecturally historical space.

Stop by this Saturday to engage with Compo’s artwork, share in creative collaborations and delight in fostering an artistic community!

On View till August 24th.
