Spring 2026 Newsletter
Greetings all! Eliza here, writing to share recent updates from Compo Arts. The year is unfolding with intrigue: another great show at the Edward Hopper House Museum, a painting seemingly on the run, and a spread in Novum Artis.
Taking The Fork at The Edward Hopper House Museum
This March, Compo’s painting Taking The Fork was included in The Edward Hopper House Museum’s 2026 Juried Exhibition, “Celebrating 55 Years Of Line And Light.” The exhibit was split into two parts: “Line” and "Light”, weaving connections centering Hopper's enduring impact on the history of American art.
Compo’s painting Taking The Fork was exhibited in “Part I: Line”, marking its first public presentation.

This is the third time Compo’s work has been featured at the Hopper House. Compo’s painting Red Light Green Light was exhibited in their 2023 (left) Juried Exhibition, and two paintings, including A Waiter Down at the Hot Pot (center) and I Came Across A Man Eating His Own Heart Out (right) were exhibited in their 2024 Juried Exhibition.
Thank you to everyone at The Edward Hopper House Museum for the meaningful, continued opportunity to situate Compo’s work within a lineage that remains foundational to the visual language of American introspection.
Waiting for the Bus, Lost in Translation.

Somewhere along the way, Compo’s painting Waiting for the Bus has developed a narrative off the canvas. After being exhibited in the Ritorno a Palazzo Art Prize in Vigevano, Waiting for the Bus was meant to continue on to Gagliardi Gallery in London.
It didn’t.
Instead, the painting spent nearly two months sitting in a Vigevano post office, caught somewhere between courier misfires, unclear shipping responsibility, and a steady stream of WhatsApp messages split between English and Italian. Pickups were planned, then not.
At one point, it became clear the work hadn’t moved at all. The painting, aptly titled Waiting for the Bus, has stayed true to its name. For now, Waiting for the Bus remains in limbo, and we hope it eventually makes its way back, though it seems equally content to chart its own course.
Novum Artis Spread
Compo has been featured in the latest issue of Novum Artis (Issue 012), with a spread highlighting a comprehensive look at his practice. Included are his paintings, Self Portrait of Me as a Baby (2025) and The Mouse King Contemplates a Really Big Nut (2021).

This painting was recently exhibited in Amped: The Art of Rock and Roll at the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition (2025).
The Mouse King Contemplates a Really Big Nut, Oil on canvas, 59 x 61”
“The Mouse King rises above the road out of town as a horn player captures the mood under a full but reluctant moon. He has a feeling that things are finally going his way.” - Compo
This painting has been shown internationally, including at the London Art Biennale (2023), as well as in New York exhibitions at Six Summit Gallery (2022), the WAH Center Annual Salon Show (2022), and Psychodramatic Landscapes at Pictor Gallery (2021).
The full feature can be viewed in Novum Artis (Issue 012), available in print and online.
